Sustainable, capable, unique

Kuraray is constantly setting new standards in the chemical sector with its high-performance materials, technologies and applications. Now this speciality chemicals producer, which has its European headquarters in Hattersheim, near Frankfurt am Main, has been awarded the distinction of ranking among Germany’s innovation leaders in an evaluation undertaken by the daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (F.A.Z.), in collaboration with the IMWF institute for management and economic research and the Prognos market research institute.

From Field to Fork

Demand for food is growing rapidly. According to the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, agricultural yields must be increased by up to two thirds over the next 30 years in order to meet global demand. Food is a valuable commodity. Nevertheless, the United Nations estimates that 1.3 billion tons of food are thrown away every year. Modern plastics already protect seeds in the field and help to improve crop yields. As packaging, they keep food such as, cheese and meat fresh for longer – and also improve food safety.

The sustainable newcomer

Solvents play a big role in manufacturing industry. Kuraray’s 4-methyltetrahydropyran (MTHP) offers clear benefits compared with other solvents. It makes a contribution to sustainable chemical production because it simplifies production processes, reduces waste water and emissions, and can also be recycled.
